The creation of this new garden (2 years old April 2012) was a team effort by the owners Jill and Tony Broadley, their son Mark Broadley a director of Giles Tribe Architects, the architect of their beautiful home and Maxine Staniforth (local keen gardener) whose assistance was enlisted to advise on suitable plants for the area.

The garden is an important extension of the design of this home. The structured garden design was adopted to reflect the lines of the house. The crimson crepe myrtles which frame the entry gate and the crimson bougainvillea climbers over the pergola were so chosen as an accent to complement the warm grey and white colours of the house. The white iceberg rose borders were chosen to complement the white trim of the windows.

Condobolin has a harsh and difficult climate for gardens. Winter and summer are both extreme so plants were chosen with great care to suit the climate. Most importantly consideration was given to the very busy lifestyle of the owners, Jill and Tony Broadley who are both very active and deeply committed to community activities in Condobolin as well as involvement in the family business; an Accountancy Practice. Therefore their leisure time is limited.

Consideration was also given to the owners “likes and dislikes” regarding different plants so that their garden is very personal for them.

The growth of the garden has been nothing less than amazing due firstly to the choice of plants suitable for the climate and secondly the diligence and care by the owners to prepare the soil well prior to planting and to use “good garden practices”
